    First Cousin Marriage

Proof that Tennessee isn't the only state that knows that you have to trust the gene pool around you before you join it. I can't really say why I looked this up other than I read a fact that said it was legal in 21 states and that blew me away, so I did some lookin' about.

At the risk of seeming ignorant...what's "double cousin" marriage?

Double Cousins are the result when two brothers marry two sisters (of another family). The children of each married pair are cousins to each other, not only by way of their father's family, but by way of their mother's family as well.

Otherwise, the same rules apply as to full cousins; so one (whose grandparents were brothers who married sisters) could have a SECOND DOUBLE COUSIN ONCE REMOVED.

And this happens enough in NC that they have a specific law to stop it?

    Holy....heck.....
